Cost

My husband has an insurance plan through work that pays 100% of the
price of the drug .I pay $2.00 per prescription, but that is
the “dispencing fee”.It doesn’t matter if the prescription is for 10
pills or 100.I would recommend insurance bigtime! especially if you
are taking several meds.

Lesli, you are very lucky — you have great insurance. Most health
insurance plans don’t pay nearly that much. I pay a $40 copay on
name-brand drugs, regardless of the quantity, so for 16 10-mg. pills,
I only save $3.19 over the price I would pay if I didn’t have
    insurance.
Generally, the insured cost is very low for drugs that have been
around a long time and have gone generic, but for new drugs like
Lexapro, you pay through the nose. And if you buy individual health
insurance (i.e., you don’t get your health insurance through an
employer) you’re likely to save even less.

HI Gina, you are right Lesli’s insurance is great. Your plan sounds
not so great for a company…don’t you work for a pretty big one?
I actually buy my own insurance right now thru Blue Cross. Since I
met the $500 deductible buying Celexa I now pay $25 for brand.
I tell you it is great…but, come January I start over having to
    meet the $500 deductible.
It is very hard to get on private insurance when you take AD’s…I
was lucky and applied twice the second time….I think I had a nice
reviewer of my application, cause I got it…

This is interesting information, Dagmar. I have chosen not to go through our
insurance at all for anything related to ADs. Needless to say, this is an
expensive choice that I’m lucky (?) to be able to have. I do it for the
    privacy reasons.
And our insurance situation would be identical to yours: very high
    deductible every year.
I’ll never forgive Hillary Clinton for blowing the chance to reform health
    insurance in the USA!

NOT her fault. The reasons for the failure of that plan were
extremely complex. Jeez, I wonder when people will stop confusing
    Hillary Clinton with Satan.
