4 weeks on Lexapro
Hey guys,
Feeling pretty good after 4 weeks on Lexapro. I’m a little depressed
tonight because yesterday, I found out that I’ll probably be laid off
in a few weeks. But for the most part I’m handling it pretty well. I
haven’t gone off the deep end or anything. Just kinda bummed. I’m
trying to stay optimistic though. Hey it’s not the end of the world
if I lose my job. At least I can say that and mean it now. A year ago
I’d be thinking about driving my car into a telephone pole. That’s
probably more than you guys wanted to know. Anyway, I’ll keep you
updated. Have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Liz

Liz,
I’m very sorry to hear about your possible layoff. I don’t know what
your job is or where, but be sure to ask your company for a severance
package (and this amount is usually negotiable if you are polite and
pleasant about it), and if it is a larger company, ask for
unemployment assistance (many larger companies can refer you to a
company to help you find work). The key part is to stay pleasant at
work as best you can, a good recommendation is very important. Of
course, maybe you won’t need to do any of this, and things will work
out at your current job, hope so.
Anyway, my real point is that your reaction is perfectly normal, in
fact, it sounds like you are taking it much better than the average,
non-depressed person. I don’t even suffer from depression, but I
would not take it nearly so well. So please don’t get discouraged if
you find yourself somewhat depressed and think it is the depression,
it is not, just a very normal reaction.
It is wonderful to hear how optimistic you sond and your outlook. I
would only wish to be able to see the forest beyond the trees in a
similar situation, and once again, I do not suffer from depression.
Congratulations on a fantastic ability to stay clear-headed!
Chris
