New to group

Hi Everyone
I just discovered this group.
I’m on Effexor and Zoloft now. Started with Wellbutrin, then Celexa.
That worked well for the longest time. But I played around with the
dosage because of the sexual side effects. Then decided to for go
all antidepressants. That sure didn’t work. Came back and tried
Effexor. This was the best without sex-side effects. But had BP
problems. Then did the Prozac. Didn’t like that one. Tried Zoloft.
The Zoloft & Effexor seem to work for awhile. It seems like nothings
working now. I go tomorrow to see the Doc. She had talked about a
new drug made by same people as Celexa.

    JW,
How long did you give each anti? Usually takes 6-8 weeks on them to
even start working. Except for the Lexapro which is supposed to
kick in within a weeks time, or so they say.

It worked better than celexa for me with less tiredeness. Good
luck and if it doesnt work theres always another resort

on Fri. evening. I wanted to see how everyone was doing on
Lexapro, I sure hope this works for me because it is my last
    resort.

I started taking Celexa in May of 2000. The first week was hell but
by the sixth week I was feeling great on 20mg. One year later I was
up to 40mg and feeling fine. Now I am back down to 20mg and feeling
    tired all the time.
I talked to my doctor about it and he thinks I should try 10mg of
Lexapro. My prescription should be here by this weekend and I am
    looking forward to some relief.
I don’t feel nearly as down as I did before the meds, but I still
don’t have that sense of well being I used to get from the meds.
Maybe happiness doesn’t come in a pill???

    — Maybe Scott happiness doesnt come in a pill but it can sure help
some folks allow themself to be happy by helping with those haywire
    brain chemicals.
Before going on celexa (now lex) I was afraid to drive 1 mile from
my home. I mean I had to pull off the road on several occasions.
And the highway..(we have a tiny highway) could send me into major
    palpitations etc.
I tried to gut through it (just drive)..everything I could. Nothing
worked. I knew it made no sense but my brain well, it wouldnt listen.
    Medication changed my life.
I can take my girls shopping. Buy grocerys, go to the drugstore and
pick out a new lipstick for goodness sake.
I went off it..confident I would be fine..and whoosh back I was in
    panic mode.
So I take it and yep for me happiness comes with the help of that
    pill.

    Hi everyone
I saw my dr today and she gave me lexapro 10 mg to start along w/ my
    wellbutrin 100 mg.
In the past I took zoloft and hated it, I gained a lot of weight and
had really bad memory problems. I took celexa for a while and then
stopped all meds for about 6 weeks. Then, I went back to the dr. and
started wellbutrin and now she wants me to try both the wellbutrin &
    lexapro.
My big fear w/ lexapro: will I gain weight? I FINALLY lost the weight
I gained on zoloft, it took many months and it was really hard to
lose. And, does anyone have memory issues on lexapro?
    Thank you for any input.

My case: came over from Zoloft at 36.5mg. Started Lexapro at 10mg, moved up
to 20mg, now back to 10mg. Way too tired at 20mg.
So far so good! I am beginning to like the effects of Lexapro.

    Hello,
I’m new in this group, and have been on Lexapro for almost three
months. Have not had any side effects so far. Was on Wellbutrin, and
the agitation was terrible. I feel better. No headaches, no sweating
out of the ordinary on hot summer days in eastern Oklahoma. So far, so
good. Am looking foreward to talking to you others who are on this
    medication

  10. Neva Marjory Says:

I just started taking 10mg of Lexapro on Wednesday. I have been
diagnosed with dysthymia with Obsessive Tendencies. I was taking
Prozac. I have a new doctor and he increased my Prozac but it was not
helping. He lowered my dose of Prozac and added the Lexapro.
I am looking for more information about the drug but when I do a web
search there is not alot out there.
Do people find it helpful? Does it help with obsessions ? What are
    the most common side effects?
    Any information would be appreciated.
    Margie

  11. Neva Marjory Says:

There werent any replies to the last message I posted so I am trying
again. My name is Margie and I have dysthymia with obsessive
tendencies. My doctor had me take 10 mg. the first week and then
wanted me to increase to 20 this past week. I took 20mg and felt
really spacey to the point that I couldn’t drive. He cut me back to
15 mg which I took a couple of mornings. I was a little less spacey
but not great. My doc switched me to bedtime and I tried that last
    night.
I feel less despair and the self-destructive obsessions seem to be
less since I started Lex. My appetite has increased. Are weight gain
    and spaciness side effects?

Hello, my name is Chris. I am 34 , married with 2 daughters ( 8 1/2 yrs and
6 yrs). I am currently a SAHM, take a leave from my nursing career for a
while. I just started on Lexapro a week ago today. I have a lot of
questions that I may ask in the upcoming days and months, so I hope everyone
will bare with me. I am happy I found this group so I have some other
people that understand what I am going through who have actually been
through depression and anxiety. Well, I will write more later. Thanks for
    listening to me ramble. LOL.
    Chris

  13. eddy_500 Says:

Hi Chris! Welcome to the group………I don’t write a lot on here like other
people, I am on day 5 of taking Lexapro for my anxiety. What is SAHM? After
you read what everyone writes you start feeling better about taking the
medication. I was concerned and not wanting to start it. My side effect that I
    still
have right now is sleepy. I can sleep for hours and hours and then still
yawn…….hope that goes away soon. Susan

  14. eddy_500 Says:

Well, I don’t have any kids at home and I am 49, teach 52 piano students per
week and love it! I have a great marriage, 3 grandsons and my life is good.
But……for some reason, I started experiencing chest pressure, heart
palpitations, and just this terrible feeling inside. The doctor wrote me the
prescription in May, but I didn’t want to take it. Finally I realized that I am
being stupid and I need to try it. I also have been in menopause for 9 years
    but
I am sure the hormones are a part of it. I am on two hormones, they upped my
does in May thinking maybe that was the cause of my problems. We are just
all going to get better and see the results daily! That is my prayer! Susan in
    Atlanta

  15. eddy_500 Says:

Allison! I have PSVT, which is a heart arrhythmia, but I am on a pill for
that. The Card. said this newest thing is not my heart, that is fine and
    controlled! Susan

  16. shara12 Says:

    Chris and Cyn -
Welcome to both of you! This list is a good place - I have only been on
Lex 5 days myself, and it is because of this group I got over my fears, and
decided to just start taking the Lexapro.
Let us know how you are doing.
    Marilyn
