oh, Gina I forgot something

Do you know if what they say about lex being 4x stonger than c to be true, and do you know what makes it so much stronger? I couldnt tolerate any more than 35mg’s of c, and I’m on 10mg’s of lex with no problems at all. I think 10mg’s of lex is supposed to be equivalent to 40mg’s of c? I cant beleive I can toleratee so much lex considering how sensitive I am to med’s. But at least it’s working! It’s been a wonder drug!

From what I have read it is 4 times the effectiveness of Celexa, but
only 2 times less of the side effects. So by that logic you are
getting the effects of 40Mg of Celexa, but the side effects of 20
Mg. I can’t find the original article that verifies what I just
said, but if I come across it later I’ll post it.

thanks for the reply. Whats so funny about it is that on 20mg’s of c I had really bad side effects. I was tired all the time, dizzy, nauseated, detatched, etc. Its a wonder to me that I can handle what is supposed to be equal to 40mg’s of celexa with no problems. Thanks for the reply, and I would love to read that article if you can find it. Thanks again!

From what I’ve been told, Celexa’s molecular structure is
symmetrical, with two identical sides mirroring each other, like an
inkblot. So the pharmaceutical company split the Celexa molecule
exactly in half to produce Lexapro. Lexapro is the right-handed
side, if I remember correctly…? The theory is that for some
drugs, only half of the molecular structure actually produces the
drug’s benefits, and the other half is either inactive or contributes
to side effects. So supposedly Lexapro is a purer or more refined
form of Celexa. You can tolerate higher doses because you don’t get
all the side effects that come with the Celexa side of the molecule.
I’ve felt almost from the beginning that Lexapro’s effects felt like
pure, unadulterated antidepressant — I just feel better without any
nuisance side effects. It feels like a wonder drug to me, too! The
only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s expensive for me, since
    it’s a new drug…but it’s worth it.

I agree, I feel that I get the great benefits w/out the bad side effects. It also makes sense from your explanation about splitting the drug in half, that one would experience less side effects with lexapro. I’m just glad that lexapro exists, and works as well as it does!! Thanks again, and how long did you say you’ve been on lex for? I’m just wondering how long these great feelings are gonna last. I’m scared it’s gonna poop out on me like celexa did. Hopefully it wont since it’s so much stronger.

Brandy - I’ve been taking it for two months now, and it hasn’t pooped
out on me yet. I’m not quite as super-peppy as I was when I first
started, but I still have a great, energized, resilient, positive
feeling every day, and no anxiety. So far so good!
Keeping my fingers crossed! If it does eventually start to lose
effect, I won’t feel worried about increasing it slightly, since the
side effects aren’t there…but hopefully that won’t even be
necessary. I guess you and I are the poster children for Lexapro!

yes, I think we are the poster kids for lex too! I’m glad you wrote that, b/c it makes me feel better knowing that you have been on it for a while and it hasnt pooped out yet. I will also not have any problems w/ increasing my dose either if I need to, b/c I really havent had any side effects other than jaw clenching, and I can definetely deal with that! Well, thanks for the reply, and i feel better knowing that you’ve also been doing so well on it b/c I have to admit, I was thinking that this drug has got to be to good to be true! On the other hand, each day I feel better and better so in my opinion the drug is totally doing it’s job, and I am very happy with the results! I swear by it!!

Must be nice…I’m trying my hardest to stay off Celexa this winter for just
that reason, I’ve had TMJ problems from nighttime clenching all this
fall…is there any AD that acts as a muscle relaxant? Elavil is related to Flexeril…
