All about Lexapro

I was reading a post over in the Celexa group, and someone mentioned
that depakote is an anti-seizure med. I believe you said you take it
because of bi-polar disorder as a mood stablizer.
Because of my car accident I have extreme nerve pain from 2 buldged
disks in my neck.He put me on Gabapentin, AKA Neurontin. (same drug)
It is also an anti seizure medication however they discovered it is
great for nerve pain ( it REALLY helps)however,I have heard people
say in here that they take it as a mood stablizer.
If that is the same reason you are taking the Depakote,and it’s not
aggreeing with you ,Maybe you could ask your Doctor if Gabapentin
(neurontin) could be an alternative .
I have absolutely no side effects from the gabapentin .I take 300 mg
3 times a day and when it is time to take it my body tells me.I feel
the pain creeping back in .
My doc tried Elavil (amytryptaline) for nerve pain first, and it
didn’t help abit .It also gave me heart palpitations.was awful.So, I
was skeptical of trying an anti seizure med, but if it works half as
good as a mood stablizer as it does for nerve pain , it may be of
some help .See what the Dr thinks anyway .

(p.s. ..Just want to say what a great bunch of people you guys are,
and I trully appreciate this place.)

I have read so much regarding the improved efficacy of Lexapro and
would like to test the concept in real life. Please only answer if
you have been on one month or more (less than a month will not give
reliable results). For those who are interested in the results and
have not been on for one month or more, I will post the results in
messages when there are at least 20 replies so you can see.

Welcome to the group Kim .Boy can I relate to alot of what you have
said .
I also had a car accident and have to take Pain meds.However I am
also a recovering alcoholic .Sober 10 years. If that was not enough
lol I had anorexia when I was 11,but by the grace of God I don’t have
any eating hang ups today .(which is a miracle because my lowest
weight was 63 pounds and I almost died )
Before my accident I was a music teacher .( Piano) and a dancer.
My husband has taken a job 2000 miles away,He is a flight Paramedic )
so I have to fly back and forth .The course he is taking through his
job takes 2 years )
Finally managed to quit smoking a couple of years back …..but just
be careful you don’t try todo everything at once .
Easy Does it but do it lol

My mother takes Prozac.It works great for her.
My sister was on Elavil ,then to lose weight went on some drug that
is suppose to remove the fat from what you eat.I have no idea what
the name of it was but she lost 40 pounds apparently .
Then she switched to Paxil and gained 20 or more pounds back .She was
mad about that so told her doc she wanted to switch to Effexor .
I told her she might want to wean off the paxil but as usual she
thinks im full of crap.
She said she wanted Effexor cause it does not make you gain weight .
As far as i know she stopped the paxil and went on effexor .
No clue how it turned out because I can only handle small doses of
her .
Does anyone have any Idea how that would work out ?

will that interfer with the antibiotic?

I didn’t want to lose weight, but I lost weight on celexa and a
couple of pounds more when I switched to Lex.
From the time I was first put on C, back in June ,till now, I’m still
down about 5 pounds.

Has anyone had a weight gain on Lexapro? Thanks,

I am in Toronto…we are almost neighbours….

I am on celexa for anxiety….for over a year now…a very small amount…7.5 but that allows me to cope…

so good luck Shauna going back to it….
