Paxil to Lexapro
Has anyone switched from Paxil to Lexapro. I was put on Paxil 9
years ago for fibromyalgia. It did not help it and I have not been
able to get off Paxil due to the severe withdrawal effects. I am
planning on trying to get off it by going on Celexa or Lexapro. Has
anyone done this?

hi everyone- this is my first post in this group. i have been taking
paxil 20mg for about 5 yrs and i am also taking 30mg valium daily
(i was taking 3mg xanax for 14 yrs but took 3 yrs to taper off to the
30 mg valium and want to go down to no more than 10mg a day- because
i am so tired and unmotivated to do anything and i attribute this to
the taking so much valium) anyway idid think about switching to
lexapro . one time i did it i weaned off the paxil to about 5mg and
than started the lexapro but i was so sleepy i could hardly function
so im really having second thoughts.has anyone had this problem and
does the sleepiness go away??? no point in switching if im always
going to feel drugged and sleepy/ pat

Has anyone had experience switching from Paxil to Leaxpro? I have
been on Paxil for about 6 years. I take 40mg and it’s done a lot of
good for me, but I was thinking of switching to something else lately
due to side effects:
tiredness/trouble sleeping
no motivation
weight gain
night sweats
fidgetiness (easily started)
tremor
no sex drive
My doctor suggested Lexapro because it has less side effects.
I am afraid the switch over will be difficult and could cause me
to “freak out” (go back to the way I was pre-meds) because I have to
wean from the Paxil first.
If anyone has done this before, can you tell me how your experience
went?
