New Member and new to Lexapro
Hello,
I just joined tonight. Today my doctor perscribed Lexapro. I am
going thru menopause w/o meds because of a blood clot in Nov. I am
on Coumadin and have to be careful with everything I eat because of
this. I realize this question has probably been addressed earlier,
but I will ask anyway.
What negative side effects has anyone experienced with Lexapro?

Hi there - I’m a new member too and I just started lexapro 2 weeks
ago (10mg). I expereienced really bad fatigue for about a week –
tired and yawning all the time. but then it went away after about 10
days and now I’m starting to feel much better

Penny,
You sound similar to me. I just joined this group today to find out
about Lexapro because the dr. at the clinic where I get counseling
for grief & depression wants me to go on it, but I told him I’d
think about it and research it first.
I am also going through menopause.
I’m reluctant to go on any type of antidepressant even though I
think they are a wonderful medical breakthrough! Does that make
sense? No…of course not.
I guess I just feel that a pill is not going to solve the problems
in my life or bring loved ones who have died back to life…

Erica –
I hear you. I really do.
I’ve been on lex for two weeks now and I can say that the one thing it’s given
me –
which seems to be the one thing I’ve been missing for years now — is the
ability to
clear out the cruft from my mind and allow me get back to “the way things ought
to
be” …
By this, I mean it’s not a crutch, like a narcotic might be, but a tool to clear
my mind
and even out my moodiness.
This has allowed me to think more clearly about what’s going on around me; deal
on
a more even keel with people in my life; and start getting on with living,
instead of
trying to live while fighting the various goings-on in my mind.
If I’m driving from L.A. to New York … before lex was the equivalent of having
construction zones on the interstate the entire way — one-lane travel in some
places,
shifting lanes in others … whereas lex has changed things to unencumbered
four-
lane interestates from here to there.
Too romantic a description, but that’s the way I write sometimes.
Good luck.
