Been on Lexapro since August faithfully.

Friday, December 31st, 2004

I notice a genuine change in my attitude. However I was told to stay
on it for a complete year and then the changes should be perminent
and I can discontunue use. Is that what most everyone is doing here
as well, staying on it for one year? Also has anyone noticed a great
change after they completed taking it after one year? Very
interested, Tammy

Lex/Sweating

Friday, December 31st, 2004

In a message dated 12/26/03 11:01:14 AM, “sagarm72″ Hi Sagar,
When you say sweating, do you mean just your palms, are everywhere? The drugs
you have taken span a wide variety of types. You went from an SSRI (Prozac)
to a beta-blocker (Inderal) to an anti-anxiety agent (Buspar) to a
benzodiazepine (Xanax).
From what I have studied, usually beta-blockers are the most helpful for
people who have sweaty palms in combination with anxiety. How did you do on the
Inderal?
Lexapro belongs to the same family as Prozac, although you may have a
different experience on it. The side effect profile of Lexapro is certainly
better
than that of Prozac.
I hope this helps…

Anxiety sweating Laxpro good or bad

Friday, December 31st, 2004

Hi all,
I am a 31 years old male and have been suffering from anxiety related
Sweating for the last 15 years. My doctors gave me PROZAC, INDERAL,
BUSPAR XANEX etc. for controlling my sweating and anxiety. I have
controlled my anxiety to an extent with these medications. But my
sweating did not controlled fully. I don’t have any other problem,
only I will start sweating in public meeting and social situations.
Now I am on Buspar 10 mg/day and little bit helpful, but still I am
not able to control my sweating
Is laxpro is helpful to control my anxiety sweating from your
experience. I am from India and looking over the web to find a
solution for my anxiety related sweating.
Please send me a reply based on your previous experience.
Regards,
Sagar

doubt these groups of people who say Ad’s ruined their lives. W e are
talking
about peole with anxiety, depression and perhaps more serious problems
who aren’t taking meds and who are very subjective in terms of what’s ruining
their lives. I have read stories where they blamed mania on ad;s a year after
withdrawing
well, yes i agree with you there. blaming something on ad’s after a year may
be
untrue. but i did experience what they are talking about. they did help me.
a lot
in the beginning…and i am still calmer than i was before. but the side
affects are
scary. i am forgetful…sometimes confused…and when you stop taking the
ad’s
its horrible. that doesn’t sound like a safe drug to me. i stopped the
zoloft and
went back to celexa today. i feel better already. but i am thinking of
taking
the next year to slowly wean myself off ad’s.

Anyone here in Virginia?

Wednesday, December 29th, 2004

I live in Charlottesville, Virginia. Have had OCD for my whole life.

The Saga Continues… Weight Gain Panic/Lex & Wellbutrin/etc.

Tuesday, December 28th, 2004

Today was such a horrible day. I found out my doctor had “faxed me a
note” in response to my letter, but it didn’t go through. How can a
doctor FAX a note? Aren’t there privacy laws? Anyway, the note,
which her nurse read me, basically suggested that I had probably
been “stress-eating” and should really watch that. It said she’d
like to check my thyroid again but meanwhile I should research
Prozac/Effexor/Wellbutrin XR, etc, and see if any of those sounded
okay to me. What qualifies me to diagnose myself and determine my
course of treatment, I do not know. She also said “I can hear the
paranoia in your letter”. Comforting. I felt like a child,
everything sounded so condescending. I don’t know what I’m going to
do. I don’t think I’ll be going back to her again, though. Why is
this so hard?

Can Luvox be taken with Lexapro?

Tuesday, December 28th, 2004

I’m switching to Luvox from 15 mg of Lexapro. Problem is I fell anxious when I
switch in one day as doc ordered. Can I keep 5 mg of lexapro for a week
while on 100 mg of luvox? In other words can luvox and lexapro be taken
together? Please answer

thanks for the replys about taking wellbutrin with zoloft. I did some
reading and
joined some groups of people that feel anti-depressants ruined their lives.
I’m
starting to wonder if they’re right. the more i read, the more i agree. i’m
thinking
of stopping the anti-depressants. very slowly of course, so i can deal with
those
lousy withdrawals.
when i stopped paxil to go on celexa i really flipped out….when i would
forget to
take celexa for a day or two i would get really light headed. so i think i’m
going
to stop the zoloft much more slowly.

OCD is an illness

Sunday, December 26th, 2004

My psychiatrist told me “you’ve got an illness,” when referring to my OCD.
So, I don’t know if it’s a good idea for people to try to cut out their
medication if they have an illness.
