The Saga Continues… Weight Gain Panic/Lex & Wellbutrin/etc.
Today was such a horrible day. I found out my doctor had “faxed me a
note” in response to my letter, but it didn’t go through. How can a
doctor FAX a note? Aren’t there privacy laws? Anyway, the note,
which her nurse read me, basically suggested that I had probably
been “stress-eating” and should really watch that. It said she’d
like to check my thyroid again but meanwhile I should research
Prozac/Effexor/Wellbutrin XR, etc, and see if any of those sounded
okay to me. What qualifies me to diagnose myself and determine my
course of treatment, I do not know. She also said “I can hear the
paranoia in your letter”. Comforting. I felt like a child,
everything sounded so condescending. I don’t know what I’m going to
do. I don’t think I’ll be going back to her again, though. Why is
this so hard?

Any doctor worth her salt would want to put more effort into your well being
than just a fax. It
sounds like she is trying to wrap things up before the holidays.
Hang in there - see what she can do for you when she feels like it, and in
addition to
“researching” drugs which may work for you (i’m of the opinion that you probably
know more
about yourself than any doctor can pretend to), you can research a new doctor
that can meet
your needs. They are out there, in droves, waiting for your business!
Don’t EVER continue to go to a doctor you don’t like!

Hi Lisa,
In my opinion, this Dr. is not treating you well at all…medically or
profesionally. You deserve at least a phone call and more involvement. I know
these Dr’s are busy but this is medication that has to be monitored and
comminication is very important.
Believe me…I know how hard it is hard to find a Dr…..I just lost one
because she moved on from the center I was going to…..I have been bouncing
around from doc to doc for years…it is almost impossible to find another doc
to
take a new patient. I have resorted to my primary doc in the between
periods…but.
Anyway….I really think you deserve better - especially since you need help.
I hope you get some answers soon and get better treatment. Hang in there.
