Been on Lexapro since August faithfully.
I notice a genuine change in my attitude. However I was told to stay
on it for a complete year and then the changes should be perminent
and I can discontunue use. Is that what most everyone is doing here
as well, staying on it for one year? Also has anyone noticed a great
change after they completed taking it after one year? Very
interested, Tammy

I’ve never heard about it making permanent changes. Anyone else?

NOOOO…definitely not. The changes are BECAUSE of the Lexapro and will not
“stick” after discontinuing use.
Some people take anti-depressants to get over a hard period of thier life and
as a bridge to enable them to learn new coping skills and change some
attitudes and behaviors…..perhaps this is what Tammy is referring to? But as
for
the effects of the Lexapro becoming permanent after taking it for a year…that
will never happen.
I will need medication for life - despite working on my coping skills for
years, it is the biochemical effect meds have on my brain that I need.
Tammy, please research a bit more to understand what you are hoping the
medicaiton will do for you. I hate to think you will be dissapointed after
discontinuing the Lexapro because you go back to feeling bad.
