Talk To Your Doctor’s

Wednesday, August 31st, 2005

Please everyone, talk to your Doctor’s and share your concerns.
These medications are very powerful and can do wonders for “healing
our brains” they have medicinal purposes also. My Psychologist told
me that. I have such a better quality of life since I started on
SSRI’s you can’t imagine. I was very phobic for years, even as a
child. These medicines can really help, but be very careful with
withdrawl and only under a Doctor’s Supervision, and if you feel
awful withdrawing, call the Doctor right away! I’ve had a scary
experience, very, from withdrawl. It didn’t have to happen.
Everyone is different. And of course, read, read, read, about the
medications and do the research, it sure helps.

New 2 Group and new to Lex

Wednesday, August 31st, 2005

Hello all!
I just got back from my Dr. He has given me samples of Lex to try
(10mg tablets).
I am currently on Effexor (75mgx2 daily) but the sexual side effects
have been HORRIBLE and I cant deal with them any longer. I want my sex
life back.
So anyway, my doctor wants me to take an Effexor in the morning, then
at night take it again, but add 1 tablet of Lex to it. Then do that
for a week, then the next week I should drop the dose of Effexor at
night and take 2 tablets (20mg’s) of Lex and then do that for a week
and see how that goes.
I have tried to go off of Effexor and onto Wellbutrin but the side
effects of going off the Effexor were very bad and the Wellbutrin
didnt seem to help me at all.
Anyone on this list, taking Lex, still have a libido and can perform
sexually? I am very worried about this and would love it if Lex didnt
cause this to happen for me.

Up the dose?

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

I dont post a lot but have a new question. I am on 20mg per day for
panic and some depression. Prior to going up from 10 mg about 6
weeks ago I sort of hit bottom again and the doc said go up…felt
better. Now after about 4-5 weeks on 20mg I feel like I am slipping
again into some low level depression. The doc says we may need to go
up again. Arent we getting a bit too high at 30 mgs? Anyone have
similar experiences. Maybe its just not gonna work for me over the
long-haul…but I feel so good on it when it is working.
Help!

Taking Celexa And Lexapro

Monday, August 29th, 2005

If you are prescribed either one of these medications and don’t take
the dose that the Doctor prescribed for you, I don’t think you’re
doing yourself a favor. Just jump in and try, there is a risk in
everything, and hopefully the drug prescribed will help you. If you
mixed the two different meds, Celexa and Lexapro, your brain just
doesn’t know what it’s doing. Talk to your Doctor, share your
concerns, and if you truly want help from one of these medications,
take a leap of faith, and hope and pray for the best. I’ve taken
Celexa and am now on Lexapro/Wellbutrin and I’m doing fairly well.
Behavior modification works well sometimes too!
Hang in there and I pray for the best for you!

tried Celexa again last night

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

Well I worked up my courage to try a small sliver of the Celexa last
night. Last time I took it, it made me dizzy, light headed and
nauseated so I thought this time I’d take the dose at bedtime and hope
to sleep through it. NO such luck. I woke up around 4 a.m. feeling
pretty nauseated but no weird feelings in the head. I took a 10 mg
pill and quartered it. Then I took a half piece of 1/4 so that is a
tiny tiny piece. I am afraid I am not getting an accurate dose of the
stuff and if I take so little, what would 1/4 do to me? Even 1/2 of
the pill would be too much. I thought if that tiny amount of Celexa
made me feel bad that Lexapro would certainly be too potent for me. I
don’t know -I wish I had more courage and didn’t care so much about
the side effects but the potency of Lexapro really scares me so that’s
why I decided to try the Celexa again last night :( I’m feeling like
such a loser this morning and now I’m not so sure I want to take the
Celexa again tonight and have another bad night’s sleep but I guess
that’s what I have the weekend for. Love Charisse

New with a question or two

Friday, August 26th, 2005

Hi there.
Been here for a couple of weeks trying to feel my way through the messages to
see if my questions could be answered without having to post here. But since I’m
writing this you can gather that my question hasn’t been answered.
I’m 32 (33 soon) mom of 3, married the whole 9 yards. Been through my father in
law’s death to follow 4 months later by my own father’s untimely death. Not to
mention financial concerns and my own medical issues (Can you say clincially
depressed??) Been diagnosed with clinical depression with HIGH anxiety and been
prescribed Alprazolam after my father passed away 13 months ago. The alprazolam
was working fine but I was still nauseous so GP prescripbed Compazine to be used
as needed. It works great.
Here is my question, Can you get addicted to Compazine? How can you tell if you
are addicted? I cannot find anything on the web about it. Deciding whether or
not to go on Lex, thus I haven’t posted until now.
If you have any input either way, please let me know.
Thanks
Kelly

Niacin

Thursday, August 25th, 2005

I decided to take a Niacin supplement (100 mg, I think) for my
cholesterol, and it’s also supposed to help with fear. I took my
first yesterday, and noticed my face was a bit warm and I itched for
awhile. Then today after I took it, my face was in red blotches and
I itched terribly for about 1/2 hour. I looked up the side effects,
and they are the side effects of Niacin. Has anyone else tried
Niacin, and did the side effects diminish?

Lex AND Wellbutrin ???

Thursday, August 25th, 2005

I actually have heard of lots of people adding Wellbutrin to other
anti-depressants. The problem with Wellbutrin alone is that it
causes increased anxiety in people who already have anxiety problems
so it’s not good for people like you and I who get panic attacks. I
bet the Lexapro would offset this effect though. So basically I’m
saying -i wouldn’t advise you take Wellbutrin by itself unless you
want to feel wired with an increase in anxiety. I’m no dr though!
Good luck with your research and let us know what you find. Love
Charisse

Lex AND Wellbutrin ???

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

Hello All .. Need some help.
I’ve been on Lexapro for about a year for anxiety and panic attacks,
it’s worked great for me. I also take Ativan as needed. Lex is the
only anti-depressant I could stay on for longer than 3-4 days. I was
getting concerned because I’ve gained about 25 pounds in 8 months. I
started at 5′8 120. I have always been thin. So I’ve never even
thought of dieting. I’ve tried that AND exercise- NOTHING… I feel
fat . I want my body back.. And I have 0 sex drive UGH.
I went to my MD today and she said I should try adding Wellbutrin to
the Lex. it’s supposed to help lose weight and improve sex drive!! I
am afraid to take ANOTHER med on top of Lex!?!?!? Plus she gave
me “regular” Wellbutrin 75 mg not the SR or XL, because she only
wants me to take it in the morning and hopefully it will wear off at
night so I can sleep… Anyone have any advice??? I’m not sure what
to do??

has anything like his happened to anyone?

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

I have been on 10mg of lex for a little over 2 weeks now. The other
night I was sleeping..actually having a dream…and all of the
sudden a woman’s voice called my name. It was a real voice. It
called to me 3 times and I could feel myself being pulled from dream
state to conscious state….It was coming from the doorway, so I
turned and looked and no one was there…so yeah it freaked me out.
But I was wondering if …well..was that in my head…was I
hallucinating? I seem to tell that lax has affected my
sleeping..so…what the hell was that?
