New Member: Side Efffects

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

One of the things I suffer from is social anxiety disorder and
major depression. so my therapist has put me on lexapro. 5 mg. for
the first 3 days and then 10 mg. once a day there after, but I have
heard so many things about side effects that I haven’t taken it yet
because I am nervous.
I am also on 150 mg. of topomax for other health issues and I know
it won’t conflict with that as long as I wait a couple hours
inbetween dosages but I’m still nervous anyway.
Please advise.

I am new

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

My experience with Lex is horrible! I have tried cutting down, and the WD’s
are horrible!
I feel like my head is a gigantic bubble, and I can’t think for crap. I am
always sleepy, and I have NO sex drive….I am 25 and newly married so this
part really sucks!
But yet, the WD feelings are so horrible, that I absolutey couldn’t stand
going completely off!
I just wish these damn drug companies would take a look at the side effects
and WD effects before putting it out on the market. I have been on it for
almost two years (right when it came out) started at 20mg, and I am now at 5mg.
I was on Celexa right before this at 40 mg and was having the same problems.

Zoloft to Lexapro…

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

Hey, all.
So, my doctor thinks I should switch from 50mg of Zoloft per day to
20mg of Lexapro for panic and anxiety (and unofficially for avoidant
personality disorder). For the most part, he said it’s because the
Lexapro is less likely to give me the sexual side effects of Zoloft.
Has anyone done this? The doctor said that I could just replace the
50mg of Zoloft with 10mg of Lexapro for the first week and gave me a
7-day sample. He wrote the prescription for 20mg and said that I
should do the first week at 10 (using the sample) then upgrade after
a week to the 20mg. Sorry for all the detail, but I just wanna be
accurate. ;) Anyway, has anyone made this switch? Should I expect
to be out of it? Is this a really bad idea, or is it OK? While I
want to get better, I don’t want to go through a week
of simultaneous Zoloft-withdrawal and Lexapro-acclimatization…
Any info is appreciated, though I started this regimen before most of
you will read this.
Thanks,
TE

Seroquel ???

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

Hi,
My name is Pamela… I am 25 and diagnosed with Depression , GAD &
ptsd. I was raped on a weekly basis from the age of 3 to 17 years
old…..My psychatrist prescribed me seroquel b/c he thinks it may
help me get to sleep at night and help with nightmares. I am
starting out on 25mg….but was told I could go up to 75mg….
Does Seroquel help a person sleep.. I am hoping it will help with my
mood changes as well.. Hopefully it will stabalize that…. I am
not manic depressant nor bipolar or schitzophrenic..which is the
main use for this med…
I am also taking Wellbutrin & Clonzapem… Any advice would be
awesome.. TY in advance..

Cost of Lexapro

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

I have a larger co-pay also on Lexapro. I think it is because it is a newer
drug and hasn’t been on the market for the required time to make it a
generic. Once that happens, the price should go back down like other
generic drugs.

my mother and lethargy

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005

My 86 year old mother was put on lexapro for depression(she had an
injury and did nothing to make her self better-would not get out of
bed, slept alot, rarely talked) Only when put on a combination of
lexapro and wellbutrin did she get motivated. However, she still
sleeps too much. Have others encountered this–particularly the
elderly.

No problems here

Monday, September 26th, 2005

Hi peoples,
I am on 10mg…and yes it sort of
slows me down but at least I don’t
go on never ending crying jags.
I am 56 and the weight thing started with hormones when I was 51 so I try
but, I am a little fat….168lbs compared to
134lbs……..That is depressing in it’s self,
but I hated the crying jags….my eyes would look like Mr.McGoo when I woke
up the next day. I feel calmer and not so sad about things I had no
control over.
So cheer up at least they have these kind of meds…….my grandmother must
of gone through the same thing and she committed suicide in 1946.
So depression (my opinion) must run
in families. I sure hope it stops with me.
I love all your post………and I feel for all of you.

hey you guys

Monday, September 26th, 2005

I am doing just fine on my lexapro 10mg
Yes is makes me slower but hey at least I don’t go down
sad memories lanes and cry for 6 to 8 hrs…..Yes so it works
for me and I am so much Happier …yes the video tapes keep
playing in my head but ……..I don’t cry about it any more…
I am so much better on this drug than before…
You have to realize that our brains may not put out the right chemicals that
we need….taking meds helps us to lead normal lives…….I am a believer
that is for sure……
I feel fine on lexapro………….thanks to my Dr who understood what I was
going through bless his heart.
