Increasing dose

Thursday, November 24th, 2005

Hi,
About a week ago I increased my dose of Lex from 5mg to 7.5mg. I
seem to be enduring the same adjustment side effects, which I had
the first time around, essentially feeling like a zombie. It took
about four weeks to fully adjust to the initial 5 mg. For those who
have experienced increasing a similar dosage, does the adjustment
time last as long the initial one when first taking the drug? I was
hoping it would not, since I am already on Lex. Thanks!

Lexapro and Digestion - take two

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

I posted asking about this earlier but got no response so I’m trying
again. I’ve been on Lex (my second time with it) for about 2.5 weeks
and it’s helped a lot with anxiety and depression already and I seem
to be getting over the sleeplessness I had the second week into it.
However, I still seem to have some issues with diarrhea that I believe
are Lex related. I understand that can be a side effect of the drug.
Has anyone else experienced this and how long did it take for your
body to adjust to the medication? Some of this could still be my
anxiety as I am still feeling nervous from time to time as I adjust to
a big (but overall positive) transition in my life. Thoughts?

Help with anxiety?

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

I have heard people say that they use Klonipin or Xanax to help with
anxiety. I think the Lexapro is helping some with my anxiety but
there are times when I feel especially anxious. Does anyone have any
experience with other meds for anxiety?
Do you think Buspar might help? Tofranil?

Splitting pills.

Monday, November 21st, 2005

Hey, I was just thinking about the fact that some people have
posted that they’re having a rough ride on lex, and that they’re
splitting pills, but they don’t have a pill splitter, so the pieces
are uneven. Considering how sensitive some peoples’ systems can be,
I wonder if they would have a smoother ride, if they did use a pill
splitter. They’re very inexpensive, and it might make a difference
to have the same dose of lex each day.
Just a thought,

Thoughtful Dr.

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

My Dr. is good about giving samples if he has them….I’ve got what
seems to be 8 weeks of Lexapro 10 mg. but I’m just cutting them to 5.
I’m on enough already.

morning group :) alison here ..? about fatigue

Saturday, November 19th, 2005

I am on day 8 or something now of the lexapro . Ok problem … I
cannot stop sleeping and my anxiety is worse than ever the other 1/2
of the time . I think I mentioned this before. WHat am I supposed to
do? how am I ever supposed to find a job or do anything when I cannot
even function? I feel totally drugged and this is only 2.5 mg worth.
I am not feeling happy at all. Ideas? alison

Lexapro and Digestion?

Friday, November 18th, 2005

I’ve been back on Lex for two weeks now and have really been feeling
like myself in the last couple of days. The only side effects that
have been bothersome were initial nausea that’s all gone now and
some insomnia that seems to be easing up. I also seem to have had
issues with diarrhea over the last week and a half, particularly
once I got up to the 10mg dose. I don’t want to step down because
the 10mg is doing great by my mood (anxiety and depression reduced
enormously.) When I was on Lex last year, I don’t recall having the
same issues with diarrhea - just the nausea and insomnia - while I
was getting on it.
Anyone else experience diarrhea or other digestive sides while
getting on Lex? How long did it last for you? It’s not horrible
and I can keep it in check with Immodium. I guess I’d rather spend
more time in the bathroom than feel so down and so upset. My tummy
is great otherwise - no pain or nausea or excess gas, just
the “oops, gotta go” of montezuma’s revenge. Hope that’s not an
overshare!
Just thought I’d inquire if anyone else had this side and how long
it took to even out. I don’t recall having it last time I went on
Lex and actually recall it was really great for my appetite, which
is normally pretty low and for my digestion, which is often upset.
