Gaps in taking Lexapro, anyone had problems?

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Hi, new to the group. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety
disorder last year. I was prescribed lexapro and have been taking my
full amount since Sept last year. I also went to a psychologist for
several months until she said I was doing fine after several months.
And I was doing good.
However, over the summer, there were lapses in me taking the
medication, at one point it was a 2 week period where I had not taken
a dosage. I saw my dr. and she had me start again at a lower dose for
a week and move back up to my regular. Did that for a week and then
lapsed for 4 days. I am back taking it at a regular dose.
Unfortunately, I seem to have had a relapse of my depression and
anxiety. Yesterday was bad and it seems to have started all of a
sudden. There were some triggers that had happened in a couple of
days previous to yesterday. I am going to see my psychologist
tomorrow. Today is not as bad as yesterday only small periods of
anxiety. Yesterday I could not stop crying and was completely
stressed all day.
Has anyone had a problem such as this? Did you get through it? I
would like to hear from someone who has had this.

Anyone in a older age group? My Aunt is going on Lex. at 86….

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

I wonder what experience people have with age and taking Lexapro.
My Aunt is starting it very slowly, liquid dose, and I want her to
have a good experience. Anyone know of people in their mid 80’s on
Lexapro? Do they do okay?
What is their dose?

Restless leg syndrome from Lexapro withdrawal

Monday, January 29th, 2007

I recently stopped taking Lexapro and have been experiencing severe
restless leg syndrome every night as one of the withdrawal effects.
Has anyone else experienced this or any type of restlessness after
being weened off of Lexapro and going through withdrawal side effects?

side effects w/ increased dosage?

Monday, January 29th, 2007

I have been on Lexapro for almost 5 wks and doing pretty good. However
I am still suffering from more anxiety than my Dr is comfortable with
so he upped my dosage from 10mg to 20mg.
When I initally started taking 10 mg of Lexapro, I suffered HORRIBLE
side effects: dizziness, nausea, nervousness, etc for about 10 days.
Since I am about to double my dosage to 20mg, am I going to go through
this all over again? I considered gradually increasing my dosage for 2
wks until I am up to 20mg so that I hopefully do not go through the
original side effects again.
Has anyone had any issues w/ side efects from increased dosage or
gradually increasing?
Thanks

lexapro + other meds question

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

Hi folks,
I’m not on lexapro but I’ve been on Celexa and other anti
depressants at several times in my life. low doses of both Celexa
and elavil worked well for me and zoloft which was terrible for me.
A friend of mine has had long term heavy stress, 9 years of back
pain, major back surgery, knee surgery, nasal polyps removed twice,
single mother working for red cross emergency services. She went on
lexapro over a year ago. It has helped considerably but she is still
overwhelmed. She’s at the maximum dose her doctor will give her.
She’s not having anxiety especially but is not sleeping well, in
part due to back pain, but a lot I suspect due to the chronic
stress.
Classic depression symptoms, not able to enjoy any of the good
things in life, as in her son, her home, her dogs, enjoying a nice
day tending her flowers, knowing that there are good things but
unable to feel any pleasure in them.
She’s working with diet, supplements and accupuncture to attempt to
control the pain and stress responses but I think needs either a
different med or an additional one until her body can rebalance.
Has anyone combined Lexapro with other meds and with what results,
good or bad?
Also she’s on flonase for the nasal polyps, a nasal spray that
contains a corticosteroid, I suspect her cortisol levels are very
high from the long term stress and this might be making it worse.
has any one else been on this drug
I’ve had my cortisol tested during stress and had daytime levels
twice normal and evening 4 X normal, found supplements that helped
greatly but some are not cheap.
Anyone had this tested and found ways to help lower cortisol?

Julie Alexander

Alternative Cancer Treatment - From Herbs

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

this board is not for this stuff. Please bring this
to the attention of people in the cancer research
area. If this is really what you say it is they should
be jumping all over this. If it’s bogus, why are you
bothering me?

Lexapro Great

Friday, January 26th, 2007

I have tried every anti-depressant out there and always still suffer
some form of depression, since being on lexpro I have done great, lots
more energy, creativeness, I am bi-polar 2 so I never have the highs
any longer and had to ask my Dr. if I was experiencing one because I
felt so good, just went through 2 majaor surgeries in 5 weeks and have
had no depression from them, short term memory I have never had it so I
don’t miss it

PMDD and lexapro

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Hi, I’m new to this group. I was just diagnosed with PMDD, and first
time on any type of antidepressants. I only take 5 mg 4-5 days before
my period. I accidentally started one week early and I was so foggy.
I don’t even know how to explain it. I just know, the feeling scared
me because I have 2 little ones under the age of 2. When I took the
dose at the correct week, I experienced dry mouth which I assume is
normal. Once I stopped taking them, I just got so depressed and grim.
Then I just started eating like I was going into hibernation. Is this
normal, or am I abnormal? Plus, I don’t know how such a low dose for
such a short period helps when on the package insert it states a few
weeks for the drug to take affect. Sorry, to bombard with questions.
