sleep problems-thanks! :)

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I just wanted to thank those of you who responded to my post about
sleep problems. I read the posts and they were helpful, but I didn’t
respond because I had another dip in my mood and was doing the whole
withdrawing thing.
I really love my Ambien right now, since it’s working great. I’m glad
it’s not addictive since I’m using it so much right now. I hope I’ll
eventually not need it. But at the moment it’s the only thing that
makes me stop worrying enough to fall asleep.
And oh my gosh do I love Wellbutrin! I was worried that the first few
days of increased energy was just me hoping that it would work, but
wow my energy is much closer to my normal than it’s been in ages! It
seems to be working fine with the Lexapro. And it makes it that much
easier to try to sleep at night because I’m not struggling with
sleeping during the day as much.
Oh, and I inherited a cat and that makes me happy, too. And it forces
me to keep some sort of schedule so that kitty will get fed and have
play time and stuff. So yay for kitties!
Thanks again,
Jen :)

Tired

Monday, February 26th, 2007

I used to take my Lex. 40 mg in the AM until I discovered that it was making me
sleepy. I’d sit and stare into space. So, I started taking the Lex @ bedtime. I
sleep extremely well but have a really tough time waking up in the morning. I
missed an appointment yesterday morning because I just couldn’t wake up. So
last night I omitted the Lex and woke up early this morning and got up without
any problems. I just took the Lex this morning and now I shall see if it still
turns me into a drone. Has anyone else had this experience ? what did you do
about it ? The stuff seems to make me tired no matter when I take it.

I recently joined this group and only 1 person replied to a post of mine. I have
a few questions:
Can you tell me the side effects you experienced when you started this med?
Is anyone taking it for anxiety and agoraphobia?
Do you take the med with food and does it help?
Has anyone tried starting at a very low dose, 2.5mg and worked up, and how did
it go for you? Thank you

Youth is a State of Mind !!!

Audrey….my brother turned 51 in June.
(You are also 51, I believe.)
(I turned 49 a month and a half ago.)
Now ….I feel like my brother ,at 51, acts like he is SIXTY FIVE !!!
I, on the other hand feel like life may be JUST BEGINNING FOR ME,
because of a little breakthrough that happened in my (aspiring)
songwriter career !!!
Also….if I wasn’t stuck down here in Texas (no offense Sophia !!!),
living on a meager Disability check………..I’d be back in Chicago ,
putting a band together !!!
I get the sense that you, Audrey, are more like ME than my brother,
and that you are “young at heart”………..!!!
And what’s that new cliche’?
With people living longer healthier lives due to medical advances, etc.
“60 is the “new 40″ !!!
(Or is that “40 is the new 20″ ???)
Well !…………you get what I’m saying !
YOUTH IS A STATE OF MIND !!!………………..tony.

Question about weight gain

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

Hi,
I am new to the board and new to Lexapro. I’ve been on it for a week
and do feel better. I am on 10mg once a day. I take it in the
morning that seems to work for me.
I’ve read some horror stories about weight gain on this drug. Can
people share with me their experience with that? One reason I am
depressed is because of weight gain!
The other thing, is if I decide now to stop taking this drug, and I’ve
also heard the withdrawal horror stories, should 1 week on 10 mg
really cause withdrawal?
Thanks!
Elaine

Lexapro for anxiety

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

I have anxiety and was taking Paxil. It worked great, but I decided
to get off of it when they changed the pregnancy category to D. All
the other SSRIs are C. My doc says I can stay on Paxil, but I decided
to get off. (I’m not currently pregnant, but trying) I was wondering
if anyone is taking Lexapro for anxiety and not depression. How
successful has it been? My doctor wrote for me some Zoloft, but after
4 days of dizziness and vertigo that did not improve, I quit. I do
not have any vertigo or dizziness with Paxil. Also I wanted to try
Lexapro because it is suppose to be easier to get off of (Paxil was
not easy). I need something to help me sleep. Does Lexapro help
with this? Do most people take in the morning or night? Any advice
would be great appreciated. Thanks

sleep problems

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

Hi again,
Does anyone have any suggestions to help regulate my sleep? There’s a
lot of things that frustrate me about my current situation, but the
sleep thing is the one that’s bothering me right this second.
Basically I’m oversleeping (going to bed at a normal hour like 10 or
11 and then waking up at 3pm the next afternoon) and then staying up
all that afternoon, night, and next day. I feel like I’ve tried every
trick in the book to get to a normal sleep pattern. I have a scrip
for Ambien and I take it at night, I have a bedtime routine, I avoid
caffiene, I set my alarm for the same time each day (right now I sleep
through it and don’t even remember turning it off), when I’m up in the
morning I take a walk to get the morning sunlight, etc etc. Anything
that’s helped y’all would be greatly appreciated, even if it sounds
really weird. Actually, especially if you think it sounds weird.
Because then chances are I haven’t heard of it and tried it yet! :) Thanks in advance,
Jen
