can i stop after 3 doses?
after 3 nights (2 at 10mg and 1 at 5mg) of Lexapro and horrible side
effects - extreme panic attacks, loss of appetite, etc, I don’t want to
take this drug anymore. Can I just stop since it’s only been 3 nights?
I don’t know if there will be withdrawls already. I have low level
anxiety, but this drug is giving me CRAZY panic attacks! At less than
100 pounds, these doses might have been too high, or maybe I’m just
having bad reations. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Jen. That’s what I’m worried about… withdrawl symptoms. It’s
obvious to me that this is not the right drug for me. I had panic
attacks like this 15 years ago, but nothing like this since. In fact,
I’m on the Lexapro for mild depression and anxiety, but the Lexapro is
bringing out symptoms in me that make me never want to take it again!
About 6 months ago I was feeling depressed and scared about my year old
daughter (developmental delay) and my doc gave me zoloft- bad reaction
there too. Last week a doc gave me Pamelor to help with some pain, but
that made me feel manic. I think I’m very sensitive to medications and
my weight being so low could be a factor. I hate that we have to go
through these side effects to determine if these are the right pills
for us. There’s just gotta be a better way.
I’m so glad you calmed some fears about the withdrawls. Thanks!!

Danielle,
Like Jen said, id be way out surprised if you had any withdrawal after 3
days . these drugs take 2-6 weeks to build in the system . i have tried
many i cannot tolerate and my doc has told me to go off them just
starlight Up if its been under 2 weeks. if you are very sensitive to
mediations i’;d take it slower. call your doctor to inform or ask about
going off. Leap also increased my anxiety ad panic while going on and
they gave me ativan to help with that its not uncommon to get raised
anxiety while adjusting to the medication. its kid of a paradox . its is
used to treat anxiety but can give it too. I never actually stopped
getting increases in some forms of my anxiety while it seemed to maybe
help other a bit ( as in it helped my general anxiety some but not my
panic or PTSD) . anyhow to me this sound not to be the med for you though
it may be this side effect will pass once on the drug. most severe side
effects that will pass do in 2 weeks. then you can tell what is around to
stay in order to conclude what you can handle . t BUT i also know some
side effects are not worth enduring even for a day.
you can get lexapro in liquid . Maybe your start dose is too high. i
began on 2 mg in liquid form ( some docs do not know it comes that way i
found out here about that ) anyhow that is another option cause same as
you the start does mad me wild with anxiety . i did ok starting on 2 mg
and increasing over a LONG time mg by mg over a year to get on 10 mg (
my case is a wee extreme that it took so long but t is as it is) I feel
for you . alison

Danielle,
Danielle,
I think it may not be the meds if you’ve only been on it short time. Is there
any other big time stress that maybe doing it? I know how you feel though as
I’m very medphobic also and I jump at anything so if you go off you can always
try something else.
