Hi Guys,
I started Lexapro 10mg on Sunday. Sunday night I slept for 2 hours and
Monday I slept for 1.5 hours. I am very frustrated. I always struggle
with insomnia. It goes in cycles for me. About 2 and half weeks ago my
insomnia started again. But when I don’t sleep well it is usually 4
hours a night, not 1-2 hoard like the last two nights. I am already
taking Ambien CR at night.
Has anyone else had this experience (Lexapro Insomnia)? Did it go
away? I don’t know if I should tough it out or just stop (with my doc
guidance). My doc wants me to go up to 20mg on Sunday. In General
SSRI’s make me a little wired, but never like this. Usually if I take
my meds in the morning it is manageable. Any Advice or your
experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

I recently was prescribed Lexapro due to moderate depression and GAD.
Once I started taking the medication, the following day I felt like I
was on speed. My ears were popping, my head felt a tingling feeling,
and I was dizzy all day. I tried to keep taking the medication since
my doctor told me the side effects normally subside after a few weeks,
but I was only able to continue the medication for about 4 more days.
What confused me is the fact that my doctor told me I wouldn’t even
be able to feel any changes until about 2 weeks after starting the
meds. I felt the horrible side effects hours after taking the meds.
Even after not taking the meds for 48 hours, I still feel weird. I
have tried other SSRI’s like Zoloft and had the same side effects so I
guess my body just doesn’t like the SSRI family of meds. I somewhat
feel hopeless now since this drug and others didn’t work for me. Has
anyone else experienced this type of reaction to this med?

My previous doctor has had me on 20mg since December. My new doctor said that
is a high dose & she wants me to take only 10mg. I feel great on the 20mg
(better than I’ve ever felt!), & I don’t notice any side effects. I don’t
really want to go down to 10mg because I’m afraid I’ll start feeling awful
again. I’m just curious what dosage everyone else takes.

Hi all
I think lexapro is beneficial to those with ocd . This is
the best medication i have ever used . On the benefit /risk ratio I
rate lexapro good .
I suffered with other ssri’s so i had to switch . Zoloft caused
agitation and psychotic symptoms .Celexa caused too much weight
gain .other ssri’s also caused problems .
I was on 10mg earlier , now i dropped to 5mg slowly. I am also taking
omega-3 and other nutrional supplements which help with the depression
part .

Hi all! I’m just now switching from lexapro to celexa, mainly because
of the cost of lexapro and no insurance. My doctor switched me to
celexa since it’s available in generic, but can someone advise me if
there are any side effects to switching meds? I stopped my lex and
started celexa the next day. Also, how has everyone done with weight
gain or loss on celexa?
thanks!

I was on 10 mg. of Lexapro from August 2006 until Januaty 2007 when I
decided to wean myself off of it because of a weight gain that seemed
to come out of nowhere. The weight gain has stayed no matter what I do
and I became severely depressed again and difficult to live with…I
could not stand myself so I started back on it just over a week ago and
actually feel an improvement already. I’ve been on Prozac (made me not
care about anything), Paxil (raised my blood pressure seriously high),
Zoloft (I was seeing psychedelic light shows), Trazodone (did nothing),
and Wellbutrin( made me feel nervous). I guess a little weight gain is
better than feeling like I was ready to end it all.
